Digital X-Rays
X-Rays used to be a hassle, waiting for hours on end for film to be processed and developed in a crowded emergency room before seeing a doctor for results. Technology has evolved over the last few years to create safer methods of performing internal imaging: digital X-Rays and radiology. Internal imaging is critical to diagnosing a number of conditions, allowing your physician to provide you with the proper treatment for your injury. AFC Urgent Care West Orange is home to a fully digital radiology department, allowing us to provide safe imaging options for our patients.
What Are The Benefits Of Digital X-Rays?
Digital X-Rays require the use of less radiation, which can be harmful to patients in large doses. Capturing the images digitally allows the technician to zoom in and out when looking at them, allowing for a more thorough diagnosis of the injury. The images are processed more clearly, providing a crisp image of a hairline fracture or smaller tear that may have gone undiagnosed with a blurrier picture, without the benefit of zooming closer to the injury. While film X-Rays could take hours to develop in a lab before being looked at by a physician, digital X-Rays can be captured and processed within 30 seconds. Since digital files can be stored on hard drives, they are virtually impossible to lose, allowing you to keep a set safe for your medical records.
What Can A Digital X-Ray Diagnose?
Many internal injuries in your bones can be diagnosed through digital imaging. Many of these injuries and conditions can be attributed to falls, accidents, and sports injuries, both quickly and developing over time:
- Fractures
- Sprains
- Bone conditions, such as rickets, scoliosis, and osteoporosis
- Damage to joints and muscles
